Kraków Conceptual Fashion Show at the Galeria Krakowska — this costume in particular made me think of Katamari Damacy! Plus the crowd reaction to some of these was really amusing.
Of the people I’ve spoken with who have been excited about travel to Poland, the number one reason I’ve mostly come across is SHOPPING.
As a direct effect of the recession, the Polish zloty has seen a drastic devaluation aginst the Euro and the Dollar, as such a current bout of sales and the relative purchasing power of $100 are quite enticing. I spent the other day at the Galeria Krakowska — a shopping center near the old city, and on the same square as the main train station.
Since I would visit every so often during the summer, I can’t say that much has changed — though the place was packed with shoppers and tourists alike, and it has filled out with more high-quality Polish brands. I will admit that I spent close to the whole afternoon wandering the shops and it was really glorious. But really, if its that cold out, its difficult to devote oneself to wandering the city — maybe I’ll have some more success today!
