After being refused entry once, filling out tons of forms, showing my passport and student IDs — I have finally procured a library card! Sitting in this Labrouste, 19th century, cast iron pillar’d spectacle made it really quite difficult to study. The space is so large and surprisingly airy that I had to face away from the whole of it in order to get any reading done.
I will be back though come final exam time! This folks here are all quite intense when it comes to studying — lines will form in front of the library entrance in the early evening as the hall fills up, and even the clicking of my camera as I took these photos had more than a few folks lift their heads over mounds of paper to give me quizzical looks. But I love it!
