La Musée National du Moyen Age (Cluny) is simply terrific! I had always glossed over Medieval Art, especially in the context of museums with art collections spanning over the centuries — but this museum rekindled my love for the crafts, stylistic forms, and garb of the age. Also, it was really interesting to bring my sketchbook in here as well, some of the stylization fit in almost perfectly with my own style, plus the layering of cloths and materials was an amazing study.
Featured above is a great snippet of the much larger set of 6 tapestries featuring the famous Lady and the Unicorn - La dame à la Licorne. I sort of loved this scene, as the expression here is one that to me reads utter annoyance at the vanity of the Unicorn … but in Medieval times was used to represent the wonders of the senses, here focusing on sight.
Also, there were bunnies!

    About

I'm a third year University of Chicago student with a concentration in Political Science and a minor in French Language and Literature. In the Winter of 2009, I'll fulfill my dream of studying abroad in Paris, with an enrollment in a ten-week social sciences program.

I've always been passionate about La Ville-Lumiere, and I'll try to take in as much of this magnificent city as I can ... naturally with camera in hand & blogging on my mind.

I hope you enjoy my sometimes ramblings as I try to jot down my manifold experiences. If you're so inclined, you could even buy me a croissant!

    Contact

You can try to reach me via skype, but an e-mail would be just as nice. For the really ambitious, I also have an mailing address at my dormitory:
